The Oceania Council Executive in August 2008, formally authorised members (including student members) of the Oceania Council of the IAEM to use the post nominal "MIAEM".
Please be advised, in order to maintain the integrity of the post nominal usage and to promote the Oceania Council, the following protocols must be followed.
1) The post nominal is to be "MIAEM" with no full stops or commas between the letters.
2) It is to be used after formal post nominal and qualifications (e.g. JP, MBA).
This feasibility study was commissioned by Save the Children early in the response to explore ways in which to increase the capacity of personnel involved in the response. Save the Children has actively sought the engagement of other agencies, both local and international, in developing this feasibility study, and seeks their active engagement in the implementation of the recommendations. The draft for consultation of this report is now available for those that wish to comment.

This brand new training seminar will equip emergency workers with the skills needed to adequately deal with the effects of stress and other psychological issues both during and in the aftermath of a disaster or traumatic situation using practical examples and case studies including acts of terrorism, natural disasters and more to clearly illustrate the impacts of stress on emergency workers and victims, and how it can be combated effectively.
The Oceania Council AGM will be held on September 11th 2008 in Sydney, New South Wales. All members are welcome to attend. Where possible sub-committee meetings will be scheduled on or about that date. Full details of the AGM and related meetings will be posted as they become available.
On June 16, Steve Glassey, New Zealand Representative of the Oceania Region of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) became the second person in the Oceania Region to achieve the Certified Emergency Manager® credential (CEM®). The CEM® designation is the highest honour of professional achievement available from the IAEM and has been issued to 1,207 individuals around the world over the last 15 years. CEM® is held by individuals in Africa, Europe, the Americas, Asia and now Oceania making it a truly international credential.
