iAEM Oceania Email List Guidelines
The moderator of the International Association of Emergency Managers Oceania Email List is Gavin Treadgold. If you have any questions, comments, or complaints about the list, please contact the Email List Manager.
Purpose of this list
This list is designed to provide a private members email list for all iAEM Oceania region members for emergency managers to exchange ideas, thoughts, problems and solutions that relate to the emergency management profession, in addition to conducting iAEM Oceania business. It is not a general discussion list.
Rules of Conduct for this list
Your agreement to the following is assumed when you join the iAEM Oceania region.
- I agree that I will not post any communications that are normally considered libellous, defamatory, false, obscene, indecent, lewd, pornographic, violent, abusive, threatening, harassing, or disruptive, or that may constitute grounds for civil liability.
- I agree not to use false, misleading, or duplicative addresses in order to disguise the destination of any content transmitted through this service.
- I agree not to forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any content transmitted through this service.
- I agree not to upload, post, email, or otherwise transmit any material to the best of my knowledge that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files, or programs designed to interrupt, destroy, or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
- I agree not to upload, post, email, or otherwise transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, junk mail, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of such solicitation.
- I agree not to upload, post, email or otherwise transmit any copyrighted or proprietary information, personnel records, or other information restricted from public dissemination without proper authorisation as provided by law.
Don't File a Complaint to the list
If you disagree with the relevance/usefulness of posted information, don't send a complaint to the entire list. Instead, please send an email message to the email list manager.
Things To Keep in Mind When Sending a Message to the email list
- Attachments to email are allowed on the list as it is not open to public membership. However, the size of attachments has been limited to 256kb. Larger documents may be shared by pointing people to a url or offering to email it privately to those that request it.
- Please try and keep your message brief and to the point.
- Include a portion or summary of the message you are responding to, but don't forward the entire message, and considering deleting any previous communicated content that is not relevant to the reply.
- Stick to the topic of emergency management and iAEM Oceania business.
- Be careful when using humor in your message.
- Don't send short messages that add little to the dicussion, such as "I agree" or "Me too".
- Identify yourself. At least provide your first and last name, as well as your title and company/jurisdiction. Ideally include your standard email signature if appropriate.
- Avoid flaming individuals on the email list. If you have a conflict with an individual, send your comments to the offender directly by private email message.
- Don't be critical of people's queries posted to the email list.
