Profile:
Bob is a Senior Lecturer in Earth Science at Massey University, completing his BSc and MSc (Geology) at Canterbury University and his PhD in Soil Science at Massey. He is responsible for the management of both the Graduate Diploma and the Masterate in Emergency Management at Massey University and his teaching has a focus on Natural Hazards. The courses are delivered extramurally (distance teaching) and he has many year’s experience in this mode of education. Currently he administers the Massey University Emergency Management programme.
Bob has also been strongly involved in the development and delivery of the Earth Science programme at Massey from its inception. His research interests, in addition to Emergency Management, reflect this background and include elucidating the geochemistry of volcanic rocks in order to determine the long term and short term eruptive behaviour of volcanoes.
Bob sees his major contribution as being to supporting the development and delivery of quality professional development opportunities in the tertiary sector and looks forward to making a contribution to IAEM Oceania Region’s activities in this area.
