The inaugural meeting of the Oceania International Association of Emergency Managers Professional Development Sub-Committee was hosted at Heathcote, Victoria, Australia over the weekend.
The appointed members were David Smith (VIC), Martin Boyle (TAS) and EMANZ Chief Executive Steve Glassey.
The weekend included the review of the Sub-Committee’s Terms of Reference (TOR), SWOT analysis against the TOR deliverables, development of a three year work plan and discussions on the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) credentialing system and developing an intra-region Host Programme. It was a very productive meeting and all the members commented on how well the sub-committee had worked together, producing positive results in a very short time frame.
The meeting concluded with the Oceania Region President, Tony Pearce (Director General of Emergency Management Australia) providing an update on international linkages within the IAEM organisation including the CEM®.
